November 1st is my first day on the job, but truthfully I have been working for this company for many years starting when I was globally responsible for retail partnerships at Microsoft a number of years back when they were fresh and new. I saw a company who was going to take all of this fancy technology and finally turn it into something useful for retailers and actually move the profit needle in a meaningful way. Yes, this company had embraced Microsoft’s platform and tools, but knew they were just a means to an end. Microsoft could not make them great and neither could any other platform company.
Profitect is the company and I have been following and promoting them keeping in touch with their CEO along the way. Months back I noticed signs that really got me interested and I dug deeper. The big sign was large retail customers signing contracts. Say what you will, but references are everything! You can have what your think is the next great thing that will turn the world on its head, but if you cannot show where others like to whom you are selling are jumping on, then forget it.
The thing that amazes me is not Profitect’s advanced predictive analytics or the machine learning, (it seems everybody has it) it is their ability to turn complex retail specific insights into easily acted upon actions, in plain language. Even more, learning from those actions what works best creating a cycle of continuous operational improvement, using crowdsourcing. So the more data, the more use, the better you get! Profitect retailers actually get an ongoing report card on the value received in the form of measured profit and revenue performance. These guys put their solution on the line. I really like that!
I have been looking for a company that really moves the needle and I believe Profitect to be one. I have been very involved for many years focused on customer-centric retail and how technology can bridge the gap between desire and reality. You can read many of my published articles and see I have been actually surprised at how slow things have gone these past eight years or so?
